Case Study Questions and Answers

Reflection questions for self learning

  1.  I do think there was ethical behaviour. I feel they are so unorganized, not prepared to go out, never did a head count, never looked at attendance, never did an environment scan before transitioning, they needed a quick 5 minute staff self check in to get caught up on organization.
  2. YES! Always have your attendance/ sign in sheet accessible, up to date and ready to go. What if something major like a fire or earthquake happened, they have no head count on children and nowhere abouts of them.
  3. Communication is a huge factor. Have that quick morning chat to discuss anything that needs to be communicated. Have a set spot for your sign in sheet. Step up your practice and do multiple room scans and head counts every couple minutes so you know where every child is. If you need to set “Little Timmy” at a table or chair for a break then let the other teacher know.
  4. Yes. Communication is key. Let them know you made a mistake and that you thought she was missing but she was in the block center. Let the parents know you thought she may have got outside unsupervised and let them know you called in an extra staff member for support. After this let the parents know you are stepping up your supervision  skills.
